Hello May

Dear Readers,

We've reached May! Yet again another year is flying past! I thought I'd give a quick update on what's been happening and our projects in the pipeline.

It's been a while since I've spoken and done things to do with PH, so I thought I'd let you know what's coming up. Next Friday 12th, I will be taking over the Rare Disease UK Instagram to raise awareness for PH, so don't forget to tune in and feel free to share my posts. I've written an article for the PHA UK magazine, emPHasis, which will be published in the summer edition, so I'm looking forward to sharing an update on my PH story. I've also recently sat down and had a few interviews with other PH organisations, similar to the PHA UK, but based in different countries, so I'll be sharing them soon.

Now for some exciting news, the PHighter Tess podcast is returning! We know it became quite popular quickly and many were disappointed when we had to abruptly stopped due to my ill health. But I'm in a good place now and we can't wait to re-start the podcast. However we need your help! As well as our chats, we would like to interview PH'ers, carers, anyone associated with PH, (you don't have to live in the UK either!) We don't have to speak about your PH story, it could be something in your life that has helped you with your PH, medication, a hobby, etc, or you may have a fundraiser you want to talk about. Basically anything PH that you feel comfortable to talk about and share publicly. We would love for you to get involved. so please drop us a message!

And lastly, I must mention an epic challenge that is being taken on by an amazing man and husband of our PH friend, Carole. Colin Ayrton will be taking on the epic journey from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise awareness and money for our wonderful PH charity, PHA UK. Colin's route is 1118 miles and he is hoping to complete the challenge in 20 days which equates to around 56 miles a day!! Plus Colin will be cycling this physically challenging route one month before his 74th birthday! There will be a tracking link to follow Colin's journey when he leaves on 4th May and I will share it for those who also want to follow his progress. We wish you all the best Colin, we're all behind you! To donate towards Colin's fundraiser, please visit his Just Giving page, every penny helps us to get one step closer to finding a cure for PH.

Moving on to what's been happening in the Jewson household. Over the past 5 months we've had Terry's auntie from Australia stay over. Well she stayed with her friend, but we saw her often and it was nice for Terry to have one of his family members join us for Christmas. We loved spending time with Fille and it was so sad to see her leave last month, but lots of happy memories were made.

Terry and I went recently went to Center Parcs for the first time. We went with two of our closest friends and had an amazing time! We spent time in the Aqua Sana with afternoon tea and enjoyed some tasty food in the restaurants Amalfi and The Pancake House. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side, but we still managed to have a BBQ and spent most of our time in the Subtropical Paradise which was a lot of fun! We all took our bikes (it was cheaper than having to hire!) and it made it much easier for me to get around the park by riding my electric bike. We loved it there! Lots of fun, laughter and special memories were made. On the way home, Terry and I stopped off at Woburn Safari park. We were first in the queue for opening and we enjoyed a relaxing drive around the safari, plus I think the monkeys were still waking up, so my car stayed in one piece! 😂

We've also had a few celebrations; my Mum had her birthday, Terry had his birthday a couple of weeks later and on 27th April, Terry and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary! I can't believe we're 6 years married. Terry continues to be my rock and number one supporter when it comes to living with PH, but we also make sure that PH doesn't rule our lives and we continue to go on lots of adventures together with Izzy. Talking of adventures, we're looking forward to our summer holiday. This year we've decided to stay in England and have a week in the beautiful place of Cornwall. Izzy is joining us too, so if anyone can recommend any dog friendly places for us to visit around Cornwall then please let us know!

It's been a busy, but enjoyable few months. My health has been up and down, I am relying on oxygen a lot more recently, which is why we decided to do the portable oxygen concentrator fundraiser. Terry and his mates did a fantastic job running the Chelmsford 10K and we still can't believe how well we did with it. We will always be so thankful to everyone who donated and supported us during that campaign. I love my new POC, I literally take it everywhere with me now. Don't forget to message us ideas for our dog friendly Cornwall holiday and also if you want to be part of our PH podcast, please get in touch on any of my social media platforms; FB, Instagram or Twitter.

Thank you for reading!
